Hi all,

In the past days, I worked on some ways to expand the ROM resident monitor
features. Some early articles lead to adding a 65C02 instruction set
disassembly feature as well as a mini assembler which can assemble the whole
65C02 IS (see posts to csa2 and the Apple Enthusiasts Facebook named
« Adventures in Flatland ») whatever is the ROM version in the Apple 2 host
computer and its support for the 65C02 IS.

As a more exotic feature is an illustration of implementing the
*indirection* operator which does not exist in original ROM based monitor
nor within one of its successors (up to the 2GS ROM03 monitor to the //c+
monitor).
The architecture is based on a patch on DOS 3.3 CI and ProDOS BI to analyze
the stack and update some active cells contents to redirect control to a new
routine instead of the original one.
There is no copy of a patched monitor to LC therefore the solution works
great in ProDOS 8.

My asking is whether the community could find a creative use of this new
feature as many high level language are dealing with objects like pointers
(starting with BASIC interpreters).
Have fun
Benoît

For your testing of this particular feature, here is the URL of a disk image
you can get your hand on:
http://bgilon.free.fr/apple2/D34Merlin_FlatlandP1P2P3srcAndbeyond.do
Boot it on an Apple //e enhanced ROM only for the time being, Exit the
Merlin environment.
Issue the command RUN STARTUP @ DOS 3.3 CI prompt
And enter the sequence above.
