And his work was on the kernel, he needed GNU to create a whole operating system. And the "bloat" of the Linux kernel has mostly come from working with a whole lot of hardware. In the early days, there'd be lists of what hardware worked, and it was pretty limited. Now what doesnt' work is the very latest bits of hardware. Michael
