If you can't tell the computer to boot from the DVD drive, that likely is
the issue.

This computer isn't new, but I noticed it has a separate keys to get into
bios and to set the boot order or whatever. I cant' remember if the bios
allows the boot order setting or not. But the bios screen says something
about "press this for bios, press that for bootselect". So maybe look
more carefully.

When I had problems, I'd use the smartboot manager that used to (and maybe
still) comes with Slackware. I think you can run that from a USB flash
drive, and surely the instructions for that are now there if it can. So
that is booted (assuming you set the boot device to be the USB flash
drive) and a little program runs that lets you select what to boot from.
