    I don't wish to scroll the _whole_ window--- just the <table> and its 
rows which are embedded in a separate <div>

    I'd 'like to say' :   mytableobj.scroll-up-a-bit ; or 
mytableobj.scroll-down-a-bit;

    or something like that.
