When my MacBook Pro (Apple doesn't use the term "laptop") is not "on the road" I keep it on a cooling stand which has several small fans for improving the circulation of air around the base of the computer. When my MacBook Pro was at home it was continuously on and I never experienced (at least to my awareness) any problem with overheating. My iMac, current generation, is also on all the time and I don't feel any part of it that has any significant overheating. -- James Leo Ryan - Austin, Texas
