Compaq NX 6110 lid button defective - bypass possibilities

Hi there.

I've had the nx 6110 for quite a few years, and had it cleaned a few days ago.
 
The reason for cleaning was because I found it would just switch of some times, and I believed it was because of overheating.
 
However, the problem seem to be with the lid button (lid switch?) that is supposed to detect when you close the lid of the laptop.
 
When the machine switch off unexpectedly, I can get it to switch on by just touching this button softly.
 
However, it has been getting worse after cleanup! I must touch this button every 5 seconds!
 
I opened it, and found that the button is soldered to the motherboard.
Does anyone here have an idea on how to bypass this button please?
