The problem is that U.S. society has become too constrained and too much of a
peer-pressure society. It had begun when the school shootings (by students)
began.

Note that schools are gun-free zones so nobody can defend themselves if
someone is killing people in those schools.

What militaristic attitude?  I don't see any.  The only people being
trained are those who decide to get a job in the military; even
cops are being forced to not shoot even when they should.
