I believe this causes something in the ACPI to act as if my machine's wifi kill switch is permanently on. > So, specifically this is the error's I'm seeing on boot: > _AML_BUFFER_LIMIT, Field [D008] at bit offset/length 128/8 exceeds size of targe> > od \_SB.WMID.HWMC due to previous error (AE_AML_BUFFER_LIMIT) 20250807/psparse-5> > od \_SB.WMID.WMAD due to previous error (AE_AML_BUFFER_LIMIT) 20250807/psparse-5> This means it is a firmware problem. The ACPI code is invalid and newer Linux versions actually check this. > ** Command line: > BOOT_IMAGE=/@boot/vmlinuz-7.2.10+deb14-amd64 root=UUID=fae26db8-2a31-42f3-b082-8c0174ab81a3 ro rootflags=subvol=@ quiet splash acpi_osi=! blacklist=hp_wmi Why are you overriding the ACPI OS setting with "acpi_osi=!"? Please try without, esp older firmwares use sometimes weird selections based on this. > ** Model information > sys_vendor: Hewlett-Packard > product_name: HP Pavilion g6 Notebook PC > bios_vendor: Insyde > bios_version: F.25 Please see if you can find a newer firmware/BIOS for this device. As this is now over 15 years old, it is unlikely to be fixed anywhere. What you can do is: override the ACPI table with a fixed one, but what fixed mean might be hard to figure out. The process is outlined in https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/latest/admin-guide/acpi/initrd_table_override.html Bastian -- There is a multi-legged creature crawling on your shoulder. -- Spock, "A Taste of Armageddon", stardate 3193.9
