What does > ls -l /var/adm/packages/samba* > tell you? Ok - "smbclient4" is a remainder from 4.2.1 ... I've yesterday fixed the smbclient problem: compiled samba-4.3.2 from source with the original "samba.Slackbuild" skript, but with the additional option "--without-ad-dc". Now "smblient" works as well as under version 4.2.1. Because i only use the samba3 style i don't need the AD option. But that looks like a problem in the samba source code, not in the slackware compilation. Viele Gruesse Helmut "Ubuntu" - an African word, meaning "Slackware is too hard for me".
