It is not about pleasing people, it is about making your content be more
accessible. The fact it does not wrap makes it less accessible.

Certainly not uncommon and I see you have a fall-back of monospace. That
should certainly work even if they do not have the font. Or did you lack the
fall-back?

Hence the reason understanding the code and playing some attention to
validation is important - which does not mean all invalid notes are
problems.
