It is the exact opposite of truth, at least in my case. Then again, I am
also not anti-Linux... that, too, is a lie the herd tells.

Essentially my view as well.

Well, there are many, many red wines. Of course, if 100 of the 102 choices
used the same vineyard and the same grape variety and the same basic process
but differed only in who packaged them and some other details such as how
they were aged this would be absurd.

But that is what we have with desktop Linux. Same basic product with a
different DE and a few other option and then different people packaging it.
