False analogy.

First: to get the "less than 2%" usage rates you would need to be combining
hundreds of different wines into one group.

Second: there would only be a couple of other common options (Windows Wine
and OS X Wine). 

Third: Linux Wine would have been marketed by Walmart, Dell, HP, and others.

Forth: Linux Wine would have to be freely available at home... maybe taps
would be hot, cold, and Linux Wine.

And with all of that, still less than 2% usage... with people preferring
Windows Wine and OS X Wine.

That is a failure of Linux. It is failing. No need to blame the boogieman.
