You will often find that a decision in one place has consequences
elsewhere. Sometimes the consequences are so unpleasant that you have
to re-think the earlier decision. It sounds like you should store these
different member_products (or, possibly, the data that are used to
calculate them) in order to calculates the different rates later.
I am, as always, hampered by not being able to see the whole picture.
It's possible that a compute-as-you-go program will be better than a
store-it-all-compute-later program. I can't tell because I don't know
all the data flows in the code.
One key question you could answer is this: when processing a line, do
you ever need data that is on (or calculated from data that is on) a
subsequent line, or do you only need from (or calculated form) the
previous lines?
