No!  I meant not idiomatic in this case simply because there is a common
patter that is often used -- return the count and populate a passed-in
array.  There are certainly cases where return a structure is idiomatic.

Maybe.  But not me.  I think some are conservative for good reason (they
are stuck supporting ancient systems) but I have the luxury of using
compound literals and _Generic because I only write C as a hobby these
days.
