I think your original specification had it the other way round (as I
would expect -- a zero exit code means "success"). checkInputArguments
returns 1 when it prints and error message which is when main should
return 1. It returns 0 when the arguments are all OK which is when main
should return 0. You might be albe to come up with a simpler way to
write that.
