Any day now, web design will be done or at least managed by neural
nets. There will be, say, 2500 input units representing any feature,
element or factor that the neural net guys can distinguish. After
training, the answer to this or any similar "why" question will be
embodied in the 2500 x N matrix of weights (and similar for multiple
layers). No human will *ever* be able to determine "why" the resulting
pages are as they come to be except that they generate more
juice. (viz. profit, clicks, eyeballs, gross sales or whatever target
they were trained on.)

All those 20-something web designers from the naughties we've come to
hate will 40-somethings but off the hook for responsibility. They may
also be unemployed.
