For a quick and dirty implementation, the point of which is to show how
it can be *improved* (particularly by adding error checking), I'd say
implicitly assuming that 'A' == 65 isn't much of a problem.  But it's
not the way I'd do it.  In this case, there's simply no need to assume
ASCII.  Just call it something like StringToInteger.  It will work even
on an EBCDIC-based system operating on EBCDIC data.  There's no point
in putting "Ascii" (or, better, "ASCII") into the name.
