But rather than just sit around I move on to percentages, the percentage of the unique square inside the ellipse and the maximum rectangle inside the ellipse.

The 5by2ellipse

Semimajor axis = 5
Semiminor axis = 2
Foci distance from center = 4.58 using formula F^2 = semimajor axis^2 - semiminor axis^2
Circumference = 23.013
Area = 31.416
Interior Square 3.67by3.67 from .0072*23.013 = .165; area = 13.46, perimeter = 14.68
Interior Maximum Rectangle 8.1by2.6  from .0072*31.416 = .22; area = 21.06, perimeter = 21.4
Exterior Rectangle 10by4 area=40, perimeter = 28

So some percentages so far would be ellipse area to exterior rectangle 31.41/40 = 78%
ellipse area to interior rectangle 21.06/31.4 = 66%
ellipse perimeter to exterior rectangle perimeter 23/28 = 82%
ellipse perimeter to interior rectangle 21.4/23 = 93%
interior rectangle area to exterior rectangle area 21.06/40 = 52%
interior rectangle perimeter to exterior rectangle perimeter 21.4/28 = 76%
square area to interior rectangle area 13.46/21.06 = 63%
square perimeter to interior rectangle perimeter 14.68/21.4 = 68%
