I'd point out that the justification for a multi-level break (or continue) is exactly the same as for an early return - avoiding those extra layers of ifs, state variables or functions just to implement the control flow. I think C should have such a feature*, but it doesn't. A goto can simulate that pretty well. Again, something to be used sparingly. *Allow a break or continue to reference a label attached to a loop or switch.
