The details would be telling, from which Michael could benefit if he were to learn...so no details. Suffice to say that "bubble gum and bailing wire" logic took some time to actually figure out where various conclusions had been leaped to. > > Well, even where you're at in CO, you could probably if you wanted to, set up > > a bench and then work on commissions to places like Langs on authorized > > reproductions of antique pieces. I can see Nic negatively commenting already. LOL! Its an okay shot - can't really see all that much of the critter because they're just peeking out of their hidey-hold. What did surprise me about them is that they're not as "shrimpy" as I was expecting: they're quite similar in shape - and big (nearly the size of a slipper lobster (FL Gulf)); for one thats out of its hole, there's these pics: <http://www.photo-hh.com/Photos-I/Pages/Bali_2012.html#27> & a side view (but eyes out of focus..argh!): <http://www.photo-hh.com/Photos-I/Pages/Bali_2012.html#28> > > As such, it is quite easy to have "too big" of a light and I've found the Q40 > > sized light to be a pretty good compromise... > > Seems like a lot of fun when you're taking pics (not that it wouldn't be anyway). Having a camera adds some focus/purpose to the sightseeing and helps keep it more interesting, as well as fostering an interest to learn more into the biology of the critters. For example, there's a small ~1" univalve mollusk known as the 'Flamingo Tongue", which is a photogenic little critter from its a mantle which has a 'leopard spots' pattern on it. They're found occasionally on soft corals & fans, usually solo or maybe a pair. Biologically, one might hear about and thus learn that theres also a 1:10,000 rare variant whose markings are different and known as the "fingerprint" pattern: <http://www.huntzinger.com/photo/2013/brac/fingerprintFT-2669.jpg> So seeing two such rare variants together, adults no less, is ... doubly rare. Similarly, they don't care much for sunlight, and I had learned somewhere along the lines that a favored habitat was the underside of a purple sea fan which had fallen over. Was out just swimming along, noticed just such a sea fan laying nearly flat on the sandy bottom, and remembered this biology trivia, so I lifted an edge to take a peek: <http://www.huntzinger.com/photo/2013/brac/flamingoT-herd_3064-RAW.jpg> Such a 'convention' is another quite rare find (9 adults plus juveniles). Google Image Search doesn't seem to have any examples with anything as close to as many living specimens in a single image as this (most I've found is ~five on a pic on this page: <http://www.mousetrapmultimedia.com/virtualcoralreefdive/FILES/DEFENSE/chemToxi.php> -hh
