I don't doubt the sincerity in your post and am looking forward to 
finding out what update ends up scrambling the operating system on this 
machine. I'm playing by Microsoft's rules like I did before and not 
using any kind of "cleaning" third-party software so if anything fails, 
Microsoft is the only company that can be blamed.

Knowing that it probably won't last, I already re-ripped my CDs into the 
OGG Vorbis format to make sure that they can be played in Linux without 
the need for a proprietary codec.
