If you have 2 graphics cards (the IGP and the dedicated), they can both
be used.
It is possible to detect a monitor that is connected to a
VGA/DVI/DP/HDMI port. This port will be switched on.

Regarding the IGP on the motherboard/CPU:
Most current MoBos support using the IGP at the same time as a
dedicated GPU, but some older ones (e.g. socket 775 and older) does not
support this, the IGP will be turned off if a dedicated GPU is
installed.

This will help, I also did that with a Albatron GeForce 5700.
You maybe need to remove the sticker from the fan to reach the bearing.

Make sure the fan properly works, if the GPU gets too hot it will at
least crash the system and maybe completely destroy the GPU.

I don't know one for Windows, but for Linux.
