A collegue of mine once said that "virtually" is a synonym for "not".
And that is true in this case, too. IA-32/AMD64 and MIPS have double
results for multiplication, and double-by-single division, but
otherwise? And even on AMD64 single multiplication results and
single-by-single division is faster.
