Well, I had Solaris job in 1999. Also this company used to port to
Solaris in beginning, but we were not satisfied with performance in
comparison to LinTel servers, so we ultimately dropped support for
Solaris.

My first Unix at home was SCO Unix, not Linux.

TrueOS can bring FreeBSD to the masses. Installation process is *very*
easy. It's just that Linux is supported by commercial companies and
FreeBSD is not. Same situation as Win->Linux->->FreeBSD.

Linux is true desktop OS now. Very polished, I might add. It's just
that it dominates on servers, in comparison to FreeBSD and others.
Perhaps people don't bother with BSD's so much?
