then what does 'using the tablet with a big monitor' mean?

if you want to output the tablet to a big monitor, there are several
ways to do that.

if you want to split the tablet gui to have only the keyboard on the
tablet with its interface on the external display, then no you can't.
that would be a very odd way to use a touch based device.
