Not always. Time was when I might type:

javascript: alert (some expression here);  // note the space after the :

into the address bar and it worked. Then suddenly it didn't work [1],
and that debugging tool, I thought, was dead.

After some pissing about I found I needed to do:

javascript:alert (some expression here);  // no space after the :

I find that very boring.

[1] It didn't work because it fucking googled that string
