If we're talking about strings in the context of their definition in the
C language and library, and you suddenly start meaning the concept of
strings in language theory (or physics, or flying kites) without clearly
and explicitly saying you're now talking about something else then
*everybody* is going to be confused.  Even more, if someone else is
clearly talking about strings in this context and you decide to
interpret what they're saying in terms of improvised fishing line then
*you're* going to be confused.
