it stopped charging because it was fully charged. an hour or two is
typically how long it takes. 

putting it back in will cause another charge cycle, and if the charger
does not sense a full charge, it's going to overcharge the battery
which is bad.

the charge protocol is the same for lsd or non-lsd nimh batteries.

perhaps you don't understand how rechargeable batteries work.
