Does the FAQ entry really say that?  If yes, it is incomplete, at best.

Any waiting can be implemented by moving all parts of the program that need 
to be waited for into the function body of a function called by 
window.setTimeout().

In this case, however, the next getContent() call simply needs to be placed 
into the success event listener assigned by calling the previous one.
