Thank you very much for that explanation.  I understand even better now why 
it took so long until LSC could announce with confidence the detection of 
gravitational waves.

Since you are chiming in here, would you be so kind as to comment on what 
was posted in another thread in
<news:fa41b4c7-c11b-4cc7-bb66-9b48e39de034@googlegroups.com>¹ (*except the 
conspiracy theory*)?

Is that a correct interpretation of your article there?  I presume it is 
not, but I would rather be certain (and whom better to ask than the original 
author), and learn the reason(s) why (not).
