But it’s been a long time since the average user has been on a slow dial up link. For me the big advantage of IMAP, with a properly designed mail client, is that outbound email is synchronised across devices, which doesn’t happen with POP. So my sent items mail folder is the same on, for example, my phone and my laptop.
