Actually, its more fundamental than that. Money, is a proxy for wealth.
Wealth is a car that runs, healthcare that doesn't ruin you, food in the 
larder, ability to access good schools. heat for the winter, a roof over 
your head...

Money is numbers in a computer, that can be removed or degraded by 
governments at will.
