That's mixing different (x)-es of the per-(x) etymology, see

Sp. perito, not to be confused with perrito, doggie;-)

So, the Perito Moreno is not a darkskinned little dog, but the expert 
[Francisco] Moreno, which name and title were used, in his honor, to 
name the famous glacier we've been able to visit some years ago.
