Was that ("didn't work well") shortly after you bought it, or after some
years? Either way, if the not-working was sufficiently bad, you should
have been entitled to support or a refund. In particular, assuming the
reinstall was on the same machine, there should have been a - probably
manual - procedure whereby you contact them and they help you out (with
another key, instructions on how to make the first one work, or similar).
This far down the line, you're probably screwed in that respect.

Depends what you want to do. For me, IrfanView (free) does all _I_ want,
but I _am_ aware what it doesn't do - see subsequent posts. (FastStone
is a less-known alternative that I think does almost exactly what
IrfanView does, from the time I tried it, with a slightly different user
interface for the functions; I prefer IrfanView, but that's almost
certainly because I'm more familiar with IV, than it being _better_.
