Yes, that's what loathe, verb, means. You used it as an adjective (which
it isn't). Now look up "loth", adjective, which means "reluctant", which
is what you meant.>

I don't think you meant loathe - detest - there; "I am detest to admit"
doesn't make sense.(It's not an uncommon error, as many people know
"loathe", and have _heard_ "loth to admit" but have never seen it
written down so assume it is the same word. [Strictly the pronunciation
isn't _quite_ the same: "loth" has an unvoiced "th", as in lath or both,
whereas loathe has a voiced th, as in "the".])

What has happened since 1979, I suspect, is that the spotting of
mistakes has become entirely associated with mean-spiritedness,
