This implies that some squares may be initially “empty”. Each person holds a colored card, the card may also be labeled or numbered. The occupants of the board obey the “dance instructions” from the caller similar to a square dance. The dance instructions may also include a specific exchange of cards between some dancers. The dance instructions are an algorithm (or operation) to be performed on the original data input. > > After the dance is complete each occupant may have a new position on the board and may be holding a different card than originally held. It is not necessary to design such a computer. The basic idea is sound and useful for simulations. In fact, I wrote a simulation program to optimise the performance of Telstra call centre networks using that idea back in 1995. The idea was to change one variable out of thousands, and see the output, and then keep on repeating this process till the best set of variables is obtained. To begin with I used a discrete event simulation, based on randomness. Then later I made it simpler using analytic functions, so simple that it could be presented in Excel. Cheers, Arindam Banerjee
