People were saying similar things about like laptop computers, 3D
printers, etc. only a few years ago, and yet now they're a reality ...
you can print plastic, various food, and even living tissue.

Yes, a transporter of some sort is *currently* impossible, but we have
absolutely no idea what scientists may or may not discover in the
future. It wasn't that many years ago that people claimed it was
impossible to sail around the Earth because you'd fall off the edge,
and they were proven wrong.
