which is correct.

there is an api to support third party map apps, therefore there can be
situations in which you tap on a link and it can open in google maps. 

that's what 'not necessarily' means.

whether or not there are apps is not at all relevant, no matter how
hard you say otherwise.

in fact, an app doesn't even have to support linking to *apple's* maps
app if it chooses not to, despite there being an api to do so.
