This is just about to start on Freeview. It'll be on ITV4 at - wait for
it - 1am tonight!!!

I was lucky to see this in a preview article in Radio Times. I wondered
if it might just be a teaser to get viewers who like it to subscribe to
Paramount+. However, I've just set it up on my PVR and it asked whether
I wanted to record just this episode or start a series recording.
Perhaps it'll only be Series 1, and the others will only be available
through subscription to Paramount +.

Thanks for the heads up. If my Sky box's programme listing is correct,
tonight's episode is actually episode 3. ISTR that episodes 1 and 2 were
shown 6 months or a year ago, at a less obscure time, but at that point
they didn't show any further episodes. The trouble is it was long enough
ago for me to forget all the information about the members of the crew
that were supplied with.

I hadn't checked what episode it was. The Radio Times preview said
"Paramount+...has loaned this prequel to the original series to ITV". If
they'd tried several months ago with episodes 1 & 2 I'd missed it. Does
this mean they're trying again?

I don't know. It seems strange if Paramount+ has loaned the series,
which seems to imply that as you'd think they would want to sell it for
a substantial payment. And it's also odd that ITV should show such a
successful and popular series in the middle of the night rather than in
prime time.

Tonight is S1E3, nothing else shows up in the same EPG slot next week,
or searching for "strange new worlds", so looks like it'll be ITVX for
the rest?

Nothing in my EPG either for next week, but
<https://www.itv.com/watch/tv-guide/2026-07-06> is showing "Minder" at
1.05am.

So it looks like you're right, and it's ITVX if I want to watch the
series - and suffer the ads if I don't subscribe.

If you do subscribe to ITVX it's only £5.99 per month, which is a bit
less than the £15.00 per month demanded by the BBC, and you don't need
to pay the BBC anything to watch ITVX.

There were only about 6 minutes of ads in total in the episode shown
last night, so not too bad.

If you watch late at night you get fewer ads.

True, but according to the ITVX guide it's 51 minutes long, and
according to the episode info at IMDb it's 46 minutes - so only 5
minutes of ads.

Thanks.

I just checked my PVR and it's showing the "series link" was correct, as
the 23:15 - 00:15 programme is set to record in the schedule.

I have Paramount+ through Sky, but pay a little more to remove commercials.

Watched all the previous Strange New Worlds series, the new series starts in
three weeks, maybe why ITV is promoting it now.

Paramount also has all the Yellowstone series and spin offs.
