It's all part of the philosophy of "I really don't want to have to injure/kill you, but if don't do as I say, I *will* do."

The handy-dandy mnemonic I remember as to which colour is takes the form of an apology from a waiter: "There's no red port wine left." When coming into port, the channel marker is "red, right, return", i.e. when returning, the red light should be on your right. Maybe it's time to start a new thread on mnemonic phrases. :-) -- /~\ Charlie Gibbs | In this world there are \ / <cgibbs@kltpzyxm.invalid> | two kinds of people: X I'm really at ac.dekanfrus | 1. Yep - it was cool watching the planes. Had a license at 17. Then, couldn't afford to fly anymore. Still know HOW though in case of the zombie apocalypse or something. > Anyway, I'd just learnt the function of indicators > on cars - a blinking orange light on the left meant that the car was > going to turn left. DO note that it's VERY difficult to make out the red and green lights in the dark if you are flying. The strobes are so bright the color kind of gets lost. Frankly they should maybe make the red blink 50% faster. >> Maybe it's time to start a new thread on mnemonic phrases. :-) >> > The planets (before Pluto was demoted): "Men very easily make jugs serve > useful nocturnal purposes." :-) Always pushed for a "Pluto Restoration Society" :-) Had an astronomer in the extended fam. Often sent my Mom cool Pluto trinkets. She too was very PRS. The probe that finally got there ... DESERVES to be called a 'planet'. Nothing dead about it. Did like the movies as the probe approached ... Charon is SO big the whole system rotates around a common point well off Pluto proper. A sort of 'double planet'.

Back in that time-frame (mid-60's), Melbourne's Essendon Airport was too small for the 707/727's etc, so a new Airport was bit, out in the sticks (countryside) called Tullamarine. Dad would often park the car in a provided car-park outside the end of the Airport boundary and we'd sit there watching these behemoths coming in to land or to take off. HOW DO THEY DO *THAT*, Dad? > Anyway, I'd just learnt the function of indicators > on cars - a blinking orange light on the left meant that the car was > going to turn left.
