If you look on YouTube there are a few examples etc. Likewise Google turns up some interesting info. While, in theory, it is no more difficult RF wise * than ( for example) using one of the amateur satellites, I am a bit surprised there isn’t any access security etc and the pirates seem to be using simple kit. * the RF link budget may be more interesting as the satellites being pirated are geostationary ones, rather than ones making close passes. Of course, you don’t need to worry about tracking, just initial pointing if you have a directional antenna.
