My download went so slowly and kept losing the network connection so I
cancelled it and will wait until tomorrow morning.

Just hours after I downloaded the final beta! Anyway no need to rush - best
to wait for those desperate to want it now.

If it's of any interest, I downloaded and installed macOS Catalina
(10.15) in about an hour this evening.

So far, I've noticed nothing untoward. Everything seems to be working
just fine! :-)

With around 40 programs on my Mac that are 32bit, most with no 64bit versions,
I can't be "up"grading.

Downloaded but have created a stand alone installer on a USB stick with the
intention of doing a clean install and re-install only those apps I really
want right now. I have a TM backup so can put back my documents and other
data not stored in the cloud. MacSOUP seemed to be the only 32 bit app on
Mojave but I’ve weaned myself off that now!

You appear to have used this App to post your message .....

https://apps.apple.com/us/app/newstap-usenet-newsreader/id292410356

As far as I'm aware, one cannot use NewsTap on an Apple *computer*.

You may note from my header info. that I'm using Thunderbird to post
here. What will YOU use for reading and writing to newsgroups on a computer?

I'd have thought that's only temporary until they enable it on Mac Catalyst.

That's a developer decision/action, not an Apple one.

If they do, NewsTap will need a complete overhaul before it's anything
like a Mac app in style and actions. I'd be mildly surprised if they do
just tick the box in XCode and then toss it as-is to the App Store.

Wine is a loss though - means the gog.com DOS games don’t work. No more
Dungeon Keeper. It’s a tragedy.

The DOS games including DK1 work in dosbox, which is fine. DK2 was

Cheers,
