New to Sequoia here... Looks like my update was installed last night (I had selected 'Install Tonight' but had forgotten all about it). When I started the laptop this morning it asked me to sign into iCloud... Do updates these days sign you out before they install?

Not usually, but you may have hit a "sign in again and see the updated
usage agreement and hit ok" thing? Or just a timeout, which appear to
exist.
