I'm tempted to update straight away: it might possibly fix my Apple Mail <->
Gmal problems, which I still have not fathomed out. That started shortly
after I'd updtaed to 15.5.

OTOH, it might ontroduce new bugs, while my Mail problem drifts slowly astern
in the history of Apple OS's, leaving me marooned!

FWIW, I've updated my MacMini M4 which went smoothly and not noticed any
difference.

New to Sequoia here... Looks like my update was installed last night (I had
selected 'Install Tonight' but had forgotten all about it). When I started the
laptop this morning it asked me to sign into iCloud... Do updates these days
sign you out before they install?

Yes I’m signed out as part of an any update. It’s a standard part of the
update process.

That doesn't happen here, my MBP M1 Max stays signed in to iCloud
when I update it. macOS Sequoia 15.6

That's odd. I thought anything requiring a restart logged you out?

Do you have auto login turned on? I have FileVault enabled but this
option prevents auto login. See Sys Prefs -> Users & Groups.

Actually I've probably misunderstood Mark's comments as he was specifically
talking about iCloud. Anyway not worth losing any sleep over it!

Updating logs me out of the user account but when I log back in after
updating, I'm still signed into iCloud. When logging out normally
I do have it set to remember open windows when logging back in,
maybe that makes a difference.

Not usually, but you may have hit a "sign in again and see the updated
usage agreement and hit ok" thing? Or just a timeout, which appear to
exist.
