No it's an iOS device the two are quite differnt, if you understand a bit about technologies. What about an ipod is that also a computer and a smartphone and a tablet. For most there are definitions between devices that are for some seem very alike. Is a washing machine microwave oven and a TV also computer ? Therefor a bus can be the same as a train which is the same as a car, which is the same as a carriage, which is the same as a coach, which is the same as a wagon, which is the same as a bike or bicycle, because all are modes of transport.

They contain microprosessors just like computers and washing machines. oth can be programmmed by a user but this does not make them the same device. In the future perhaps all devices will be the same and called a 'fing'. And everyone would by a 'fing' and that fing could be used as a computer is today or as a washing machine is used today or a phone, of a automated sex doll. People that know the use of each product can tell the differnce others won't. Lets see if you can get swift working on an iphone so you can write an app on your phone for the phone. It'll be similar from knowing the difernce between an automaton and robot and a cyborg. > > > Would you say a washing machine is a computer, I guess you would. > > How about a dyson hair dryer. > > irrelevant. Actually, there are 'smart' washing machines which _can_ have apps written for them. https://www.howtogeek.com/236286/what-is-a-smart-washer-and-do-i-need-one/ Most 'smart' washing machines require a cell phone or a computer on the network to provide the app, but some really do have storage and can have apps run directly on the washing machine. I have a 'smart' washing machine. I disabled the wireless connection as soon as I had it set up. It no longer connects to the network. > > go learn the difference between an embedded microcontroller and a > general purpose computer. Yes. https://www.apple.com/swift/playgrounds/ Apple appears to think that an iPad is a computer. Perhaps he should correct them. > > when the mac first came out, it required a lisa to write apps. it > wasn't for another year or two until mac native development tools began > to appear. > I had the original 'phone book' documentation, and MPW (Macintosh Programmer's Workshop) with the Apple-provided Pascal and C++ compilers in 1986, and within 18 months, 3rd-party FORTRAN and Modula-2 compilers. I used to, among other things, write FORTRAN applications for my then day job, on a large supermini which cost several hundred thousand dollars. The Mac I used was a MacIIsi which had a 32-bit 68030 running at 20 MHz, 17 MB RAM, 80 MB internal disk, 300 MB external disk, and cost several thousand dollars, or about 1% of the cost of the supermini. The supermini had a 24-bit, 8 MHz, CPU, 6 MB RAM plus 5 MB VM, and 300 MB storage. It was faster to write the base code on the Mac, dump it to the supermini (though that was painful and involved serial cables) and tweak it on the supermini than to write the code on the supermini. Certain people said that the Mac was a toy. They shut up when they saw that I got my code done in far less time and with far less effort using the toy than they could using the real tools on the real computer. MacProject did a better job, faster, and far cheaper as I got it for _free_ from Apple, than did the crude even for the time project management tools on the supermini, which meant that I could and did _organise_ my tasks better than they could. And MS Word and MacWrite were better writing tools than were available on the supermini; an Imagewriter was slower than the printer the supermini used, but gave acceptable output and was actually quieter than the big printer. But, hey, according to some desktop computers were toys. Idiots.
