I recently bought a base model M4 Mini, replacing my last of the Intel iMacs.
Certainly snappier, but not that much difference for word processing,
browsing, etc.

That said, recently had occasion to shrink some video files - at about 700fps,
2 seconds for each minute of video. From memory that's about 6 times the speed
of the iMac. No fans, no fuss. Impressive.
