Hello again, Very Old John! 🙂 As you know, I'm not as clever as many of the other's reading here, but I'd like to make a suggestion. Simply remove the Applications Icon from the Dock, then you'll not be ably to see the ugly icon currently sitting atop of it! A 'right click' on the Icon should provide you with options. Good luck! PS. Can you post an image of what your "Applications App" looks like? I don't appear to have one in my macOS Ventura 13.7.8
