#35415 — auld lang syne

An acquaintance has shown up after some years and we chat via messaging.
Oddly, he/she appears to be lying about a number of things.

What does it mean when someone comes out of the past and has become
a compulsive liar?  Have I done something wrong to deserve this?  Is there
a work of fiction I can read that has this plot?

they're not lying. they're from another timeline.

I have a hypothesis.

I've had some close shaves in my time, where I narrowly escape
dying.

Well, maybe I died in another timeline, but this timeline continues
on (with my consciousness), but with a higher level of improbable
events, related to the improbability of escaping those close shaves
unscathed.

So in my current timeline, a reality TV star/slum lord/sex
offender is POTUS.

How's yours?

Just the same.  I don't really care about the sex offender part, but it 
just may be the straw that breaks the camel's back.

I watched this in the hospital, 2020-2022.  Pretty good.  Those two make 
a fair couple of detectives.
