I'm interested NASA has a GIANT vacuum chamber, in Houston, I think. I vaguely remember a science television show where they repeated Galileo's experiment in the vacuum chamber, with a helium balloon, an air balloon and something heavy. They dropped them, pairwise, and the helium balloon fell at the same speed as the other items.

Famously, the Apollo 15 astronauts (callsign: Falcon) did the experiment with a hammer and a (falcon) feather *on the surface of the Moon*. Odd “In fact a helium balloon on the moon would fall to the ground as quickly as a dropped hammer.) “ You know why Id like to see that, hey? Because when you have a Helium balloon in your car and turn right, it doesn’t lag left- you know what it does, hey? It goes right. And when you hit the brakes it goes back. And when you accelerate it goes forward. Now this is explained ‘because the air molecules move’, but that would be ‘wind’, and I don’t notice any wind in a car. So, yes, I would love to see a Helium balloon on the moon.

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=4BYVIS7ARek Well this guy did it in a vacuum chamber, and the balloon fell. But rubber has weight. That still doesn’t address whether the Helium molecules themselves would rise against gravity, or does it?

It does. The balloon sank, after all, when the air was removed. A proper experiment would have a sensitive force meter that would measure the force (upward and downward) plus compensate for the (pre-weighed) weight of the empty balloon itself.
