I didn't say they had "no resistance" to them. But they will flow in response to one until the stress is gone. The only editorializing appeared on the editorial pages. The news pages were factual, researched and relatively unbiased one way or the other. Journalists used to be proud of their objectivity and their accurate reporting. Well, that's all in the past. There is no such thing these days in the leftist media as factual and unbiased news reporting. It's all leftist-promoting and slanted-left propaganda. The same thing has happened to the sciences. There is no unbiased science anymore. All the research grants are handed out to further a political agenda such as a world *carbon tax* foisted off on the wealthy countries by fake statistics that support human-caused climate change. It HAS to be human-caused in order for well-to-do countries to be held responsible and taxed to redistribute the wealth. In other words, science these days is all about socialism and not about getting answers to real scientific questions. It's all about *punishing* human beings because we are all inherently evil and are a blight on the face of the Earth. That's your science. The Earth is not solid to the core or through the core, or anywhere near the core. It will not be solid until a sufficient amount of the radioactive material within the Earth has stopped decaying and generating the heat that currently prevents it from being solid. When that day comes, the Earth will be a "dead planet" like Mars. It will lose it's protective magnetosphere, and the sun's particle rays will eventually strip off its atmosphere. THEN, Nadsington will be right. -- Checkmate ÂŪ Author, Humorist, Cynic Philosopher, Humanitarian Poet, Elektrishun to the Stars Usenet Shot-Caller Copyright ÂĐ 2018 all rights reserved In loving memory of The Battle Kitten May 2010-February 12, 2017 "There are many here among us, who feel that life is but a joke." Sorry you feel that way. I merely stated what she had said which puddles has misconstrued to be something else. The Earth > is not solid to the core or through the core, or anywhere near the core. SPNAK! The top section, the asthenosphere, might be "only" 99% solid. The rest is solid. It's also, especially the top 700 km or so, somewhat ductile, but so is a block of solid aluminum. You can squish it slowly or draw it out into a wire. Doesn't make it liquid. Physics geek time: it supports shear stresses and as a result ... Geology geek time: it can transmit seismic S-waves. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magma "Besides molten rock, magma may also contain suspended crystals, dissolved gas and sometimes gas bubbles. Magma often collects in magma chambers that may feed a volcano or solidify underground to form an intrusion. Magma is capable of intruding into adjacent rocks (forming igneous dikes and sills), extrusion onto the surface as lava, and explosive ejection as tephra, or fragmented rock, to form pyroclastic rock." "Magma is a complex high-temperature fluid substance." Magma bodies underground are often detected by their *inability* to transmit seismic S-waves: https://www.nature.com/articles/srep39500 Evidence for a magma reservoir beneath the Taipei metropolis of Taiwan from both S-wave shadows and P-wave delays "Here I show evidence of a deep magma reservoir beneath the Taipei metropolis from both S-wave shadows and P-wave delays." I.e., the magma reservoir is opaque to S-waves from more distant earthquakes and can be detected because of this property.
