#698763 — Light Speed Limit

SubjectLight Speed Limit
Message-ID<6kmbndpcjfghtob1ftcn3db8alvpm4mn7p@4ax.com>
Anyyhing in this unique and sole universe, even an imagined God, must
obey the universal light speed limit, c = 3 E8 m/sec .

The energy of any mass m travelling at speed v, is confirmed to be
 m c^2 / SqrRoot [ 1 - ( v^2 / c ^2 ) ] , which clearly goes to
infinity as v approaches c , which is to say, that
no mass ever attains v = c or likely anything very near c .

Keeping in mind :

( 1 ) the simple relationship between distance d, speed v, and time t
( i.e. d = v x t ), and

( 2 ) the very vast distances betwee stars, galaxies, and most
astronomical entities, then any travels between these entities would
take prohibitively excessive times.

This is all the reason why, although we are likely not the only
intelligent space faring species, we have yet to be visited by any.

Speculation about so called worm holes, is just plain fantasy. No such
breach in the infinite space-time continuum is possibly, and none has
ever been detected.

God is the law giver... creating all law... He does what He wants...
Man plays God... that is called authority...

Evidence this is the only universe?
remember lack of evidence is not evidence of absence.

And if God is outside the universe....?

Oh we have gotten subatomic particles WELL past 99% of c.
Macroscopic objects, not so much, though there are stars
observed orbiting the galactic Black Hole moving close to
the speed of light.

A fair sophomore year argument against alien visitation.
(Not that I think aliens ever visited.)

Sorry but Speculation is not fantasy.
Though it is an easy mistake to make.

And the way you know there have been no visits is? Because you say so?
Here, allow me to introduce you to "kensi" and Nads. That is their
journalist "science" as well.

There is considerable testimony and evidence that aliens have visited
and are regularly visiting, but that governments are keeping it secret.

So how do they get here? The way they say they do it is like this:
C is the speed of light. Light consists of waves propagating in the
aether. c is the speed of those waves and since it is an aether property
there is little chance of something propagating (as waves) faster.

But aether is a thin whispy tenuous flowing, but elastic substance. So
the question that remains would be what is the maximum velocity of
aether itself through "empty" space? Is it limited to c like waves
propagating in aether? Why would it?

Aliens say the way they travel from the stars is to stretch aether from
one location to another and when it "snaps back" it pulls their ship
along with it at incredible (but not infinite) velocity.

> A fair sophomore year argument against alien visitation.
> (Not that I think aliens ever visited.)

Maybe you should look at the evidence (unless you are part of the
coverup, of course)

The nature of the character of aliens, clearly puts the burden of
proof with those postulating their existence. There is no credible
evidence.

How did they get here ? Simple answer is they didn't, because that
would require spped many times light speed, which is ridiculous.

Rubbish. Aliens don't say anything because nobody has ever talked to
any, because practical travel among stars is clearly impossible.

If aliens did visit, don't you suppose they'd provide incontrivertable
evidence of their existance ? Well where is it ?

There are no alien's... just people on other worlds.
I predict they will contact us first.

Mitch in our language beings living on other worlds are called aliens
because they don't come from here. English much?

As for "first contact", you are thousands of years too late (as if that

Because you say so. Got it.

So travel faster than light is "impossible"? Use the short form "I'm a
moron".

Because as God, you know all and see all and therefore only tell the
absolute truth when you speak. I never would have guessed you were that
powerful.

And the way you know the purpose and what these aliens that don't exist
will do would be? Oh that's right the same super-powers that you used to
prove they don't exist at all. Make up you mind.

I apolagize if I mispoke or was unclear. Aliens are very likely to
exist, but travel among the stars is clearly impossible due to the
vast distances and limited travel speeds. We have not and will not be
visited or contacted by aliens.

Not sure what you're trying to say.

I rely on nothing which is just a matter of semantics.

Sometimes semantics will be a valid vehicle for important truths.

Science is based on conjectures, many outright provable and some just
logical inferences.

Language is an instrument for communication. If you use language for other
purposes but neglect the primacy of communication—ie, shared understanding
of meanings—then it’s a wasted exercise.

As I said, John blames others for his not understanding the language of
physics. His argument is that if it is not immediately clear to a layman,
then it is WRONG. And if it isn’t presented like a comic book illustration
to John, the way he’d like it, then it is WRONG.

Ah good. Then please demonstrate. Please translate Maxwell’s equations into

So if I tell you (oh barmaid and carpenter) that if one measures the
magnetic force one finds at every place on some surface in space (say
enclosing a magnet) then the sum total of those forces will always add
up to zero, you somehow think this is not straightforward?

Odd, will you stop embarrassing yourself and try to learn a little
science? Even John makes you look like an idiot.
